When we left home it wasn't raining but by time we got to Logan it started to drizzle. We had to stop and take our gear out of the back of the truck and put it under the cover of the boat in hopes to keep it dry.
It rained pretty hard all the way through the canyon until we started down to the lake. We couldn't see the lake but we saw this beautiful rainbow. We looked at the sky and thought it was going to clear up, but as we drove over to the south end of the lake to our campsite the dark clouds rolled in again. We got to the campsite and waited in the truck for about 45 min until it stopped raining enough to get out. Then it was COLD and WINDY. We had not planned on it being so cold, we were not dressed for cold weather nor did we bring warm clothes. It was so windy Jace couldn't even get a fire going, if the scoutmaster can't start a fire then it's impossible without the use of an incendiary device. We decided to bag it, drive home and maybe come back the next day. We then drove around a little, went to Laketown so Jace could show the kids the house where he grew up and the school he went to and a few other things. We were headed home and I was feeling guilty about the money we spent on gas. (It takes a full tank at about $70 to drive over there and back.) So I thought maybe we could find some place to stay in Bear Lake that was warm and dry and cost about the same as a tank of gas. We stopped at the gas station in Garden City and asked about lodging. We were told the KOA has heated cabins for about $60 so we went there and stayed.
This is our new Bear Lake cabin. I know it is a shed, but it was warm and dry and we liked it. It had a full size bed and bunk beds. There was a picnic table and fire pit out front. Because we came prepared to camp we were still able to use our sleeping bags and cook on the camp chef.
We did take the boat out the next day(no pictures of that) The temp. was only in the upper 60's and still a little windy. Nobody wanted to get in the water. Jace put on his wet suit and did a little sking and wakeboarding.
We played on the beach the rest of the day.

Even though the weather wasn't that great and our plans didn't work out as we hoped, we still had a good time. After a quick mental inventory of our recent vacations we decided our family motto is we can have fun even when it sucks.
We enjoyed our rasberry shakes on the drive home.
